Falcons Fall to GCSU, 8-1
MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo women’s tennis team (3-11, 1-10 PBC) fell to visiting Georgia College and State University (5-6, 2-4 PBC), 8-1. The Falcons lone win came at the No. 5 singles as junior Calli Robinson (Adel, Ga./Cook) defeated Linda Mosa 6-7, 6-2, 10-8. This was Robinson’s fourth win of the season and first win since Feb. 20 when she defeated Melinda Vansant of Georgia Southwestern.
Robinson joins fellow junior Kodi Bobo (Cullman, Ala./West Point) as the only two Falcons to win two PBC matches. Bobo won matches against GSW and USC Aiken. She also received a forfeit victory in a match against Francis Marion.
Bobo lost a highly-contested match with Adriana Acuna in No. 6 singles as she fell 6-3, 2-6, 10-8.
Robinson and senior Kristi Kelly (Tallahassee, Fla./Lawton Chiles) lost another hard-fought match in the No. 2 doubles as they fell 8-6.
The Falcons will return to action tomorrow, March 24 at 3 p.m. as they host Tuskegee University at the UM Tennis Complex.
