Falcons Sweep Stillman, 9-0
MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo women’s tennis team (6-12) took down visiting Stillman College 9-0 on Thursday (April 1). Senior Kristi Kelly (Tallahassee, Fla./Lawton Chiles) had the most dominating win as she took the No. 3 singles 6-1, 6-0. The Falcons dominated the Tigers en route to their victory.
Senior Alex Mangum (San Antonio, Texas/John Marshall) won the No. 1 singles 6-3, 2-6, 6-2. Sophomore Helene Nordgreen (Bergen, Norway/Bergen Handels Gymnasium) won No. 2 singles 6-3, 6-1. Senior Emily Blackwood (Cullman, Ala./West Point) took No. 4 singles 6-3, 6-0 while junior Calli Robinson (Adel, Ga./Cook) won the No. 5 singles 6-2, 6-0. The final singles winner was junior Kodi Bobo (Cullman, Ala./West Point) who won No. 6 singles 6-4, 6-1.
Mangum and Blackwood combined to take No. 1 doubles 8-2. Kelly and Robinson took No. 2 doubles 8-1 and Nordgreen and Bobo took No. 3 doubles 8-2.
The women’s tennis team returns to action today, April 2 at 2 p.m. as the Falcons host Southeastern at the UM Tennis Complex.
