Falcons Drop another Tough Peach Belt Loss, 3-0
ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The University of Montevallo women's volleyball team (10-8, 2-2 PBC) dropped another tough Peach Belt Conference contest on the road against Flagler College (11-8, 4-1 PBC), 3-0. The Falcons were led by senior's Katie Johnson (Alabaster, Ala./Thompson) and Carson Anderson (Chattanooga, Tenn./Baylor) who had nine and eight kills, respectively.
The Falcons got off to a slow start only picking up five kills in the first set. They fell 25-17. In the second set things seemed to be back in order as the Falcons took a quick 8-2 lead but the Saints used a timeout to refocus and stormed back taking an 11-10 lead and never looking back. The Falcons held strong going point-for-point with the Saints until FC pulled away late taking a 25-19 victory.
UM fell behind early in the third set and was never able to recover as the Saints went on to sweep the match winning 25-13.
Johnson and Anderson led the team in kills while sophomore Anna Garrison (LaVergne, Tenn./LaVergne) dished out the assists with a game-high 25. Sophomore Brittany Wilson (Floyds Knobs, Ind./Floyd Central) led the team in digs with seven while Anderson paced the Falcons in attack percentage with an impressive .538 with just one error.
The Saints used a .329 attack percentage to down the Falcons who only hit at a .133 clip.
The Falcons will return to the court Tuesday, Sept. 29 at 7:00 p.m. as they host former conference rival University of Alabama-Huntsville. The Falcons defeated UAH 3-0 earlier this season.
