UM Falls on the Road, 3-0
AUGUSTA, Ga. - The University of Montevallo women's volleyball team (13-10, 4-4 PBC) played in its third match in three days and fell 3-0 to Augusta State University (14-8, 5-4 PBC) who had not played a match since Wednesday. The Falcons started off slow and dropped the first set 25-14 and then battled the Jaguars the rest of the way falling 26-24 and 25-22 in the final two sets.
UM was led by seniors Katie Johnson (Alabaster, Ala./Thompson) and Carson Anderson (Chattanooga, Tenn./Baylor) who each had 11 kills. Anderson made the most of her attack attempts hitting at a .450 clip with just two errors. Seniors Lauren Markle (Metamora, Ill./Peoria Notre Dame) and Katy Handrick (De Pere, Wisc./De Pere) each had nine kills while Markle also was effective when given the chance as she hit at a .533 clip with just one error.
Freshman libero Brittany Wilson (Floyds Knobs, Ind./Floyd Central) led the team in digs with 12 while junior Kara Zawisza (Ann Arbor, Mich./Saline) chipped in eight.
Sophomore Anna Garrison (LaVergne, Tenn./LaVergne) dished out 46 assists and dug up seven balls in the losing effort.
The Falcons will return to the court Tuesday, Oct. 13 at 6:00 p.m. as they travel to the University of West Georgia for a non-conference match-up.
