Falcons Dominate West Georgia, 3-0
MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The University of Montevallo women's volleyball team (14-10) picked up a dominating win on the road at the University of West Georgia (9-15). UM swept the Wolves 3-0 and never let UWG reach 20 points as they won 25-19, 25-13 and 25-13. UM had its highest attack percentage since defeating Clark Atlanta University at home on Sept. 6.
The Falcons hit for a .434 attack percentage for the match and hit for a .560 average in set two. UM held the Wolves to just a .194 attack percentage and held them to .045 in the final set.
UM was led by senior Katie Johnson (Alabaster, Ala./Thompson) who had 10 kills and hit for a season-high .615 attack percentage. She also was third on the team in digs with five. Senior Katy Handrick (De Pere, Wisc./De Pere) had 11 kills and three service aces.
Senior CarsonAnderson (Chattanooga, Tenn./Baylor) was third on the team in kills with nine and a team-high .692 attack percentage. Sophomore Anna Garrison (LaVergne, Tenn./LaVergne) continued her strong play at setter with 37 assists and six digs.
Sophomore Rachel Wotitzky (Punta Gorda, Fla./Charlotte) led the team in digs and service aces with seven and four, respectivily, while freshman libero Brittany Wilson (Floyds Knobs, Ind./Floyd Central) had five.
The Falcons will return to the court Friday, Oct. 16 at 7:00 p.m. as they host Armstrong Atlantic State University for a Dig Pink event.
