Falcons Swept by West Florida, 3-0


PENSACOLA, Fla. - The University of Montevallo women's volleyball team (16-13) dropped a 3-0 match on the road at the University of West Florida. The Falcons were led by senior Katie Johnson (Alabaster, Ala./Thompson) who had nine kills and no errors for a .391 hitting percentage.

The Falcons trailed most of the match as they lost the first set 25-19 and then dropped the second set 25-11. UM stormed back in the second set pushing the Argonauts to the brink but fell 28-26.

Johnson led the team in kills with nine and was followed by senior Katy Handrick (De Pere, Wisc./De Pere) and junior Rebecca Dowd (Dothan, Ala./Providence Christian School) who each had seven. Sophomore setter Anna Garrison (LaVergne, Tenn./LaVergne) had 30 assists and eight digs just shy of another double-double.

Sophomore Rachel Wotitzky (Punta Gorda, Fla./Charlotte) and freshman Brittany Wilson (Floyds Knobs, Ind./Floyd Central) tied for the lead in digs with 12 each.

The Falcons will return to the court Friday, Nov. 6 at 4:00 p.m. as they host USC Aiken in Peach Belt Conference action.
