Falcons Earn AVCA Team Academic Award for 2009-10

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Montevallo volleyball team under the direction of head coach Katie O’Brien was awarded the AVCA Team Academic Award for the 2009-10 season. The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale.

The Falcons are one of just 55 Division II schools to be given the distinguished honor. UM joins two schools from the Peach Belt Conference including Armstrong Atlantic State University and Francis Marion University.

This is the second-straight year the Falcons have been the recipient of the AVCA Team Academic Award.
