Falcons Tied for Third in Preseason PBC Coaches Poll

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The University of Montevallo volleyball team was voted to finish tied for third in the Peach Belt Conference according to league coaches. The PBC Preseason Coaches Poll released today has the Falcons in a deadlock with Augusta State University for the third place team in the league.

Montevallo joined the Peach Belt Conference in 2009 and finished fourth in the final standings with an 8-6 league mark, 20-14 overall.  Returning for the Falcons is All-Conference setter Anna Garrison (LaVergne, Tenn./LaVergne) who led the PBC with 10.46 assists per set.  Also back is starting libero Brittany Wilson (Floyds Knobs, Ind./Floyd Central) who was fourth the league in digs.  Seniors Rebecca Dowd (Dothan, Ala./Providence Christian School) and Kara Zawisza (Ann Arbor, Mich./Saline) are also back.

UM opens up the season with back-to-back tournaments on the road. The first is at Florida Southern on Sept. 3-4. UM then travels to USC Aiken to compete in a two-day tournament on Sept. 10-11. The Falcons first home match comes Sept. 14 at 6 p.m. as the Falcons host the University of West Georgia.
