MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo volleyball team (9-12, 4-5 PBC) honored its three seniors prior to its match with Lander University (8-12, 1-7 PBC). Once the ceremony was over the Falcons took their talents to the court and dominated the Bearcats winning in straight sets 25-13, 25-17 and 25-21. UM hit .337 as a team and held the Bearcats to just a .075 hitting percentage. Sophomore Michelle Carle (Sugar Land, Texas/Clements) led the way with 11 kills and five blocks while hitting .364. Redshirt-sophomore Manyi Ati (Lawrenceville, Ga./Grayson) provided nine kills and a team-high eight blocks as she hit .750 for the match.
Senior Anna Garrison (LaVergne, Tenn./LaVergne) became just the second player in UM history to reach 4,000 assists since the Falcons joined the NCAA. She had 38 assists and nine digs and needed just 23 to surpass the 4,000 assist mark.
Senior libero Rachel Wotitzky (Punta Gorda, Fla./Charlotte) led the Falcons in digs with 14 as she inches closer to the 1,000 dig career mark.
UM out-blocked the Bearcats 11-5 and out-dug LU 49-38.
Garrison, Wotitzky and Jessica Guidry (Fort Walton Beach, Fla./Pensacola State College) were all honored prior to the match as they prepared to play their final match inside BankTrust Arena.
The Falcons will be back in action this Monday at 6 p.m. as they travel to Augusta State University for a Peach Belt Conference match.
