TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Montevallo volleyball team (13-13) evened its record with its fourth-straight 3-0 victory. The Falcons traveled to Stillman College and dominated the Tigers 25-17, 25-14 and 25-9. Senior libero Rachel Wotitzky (Punta Gorda, Fla./Charlotte) had 14 digs which moved her past the 1,000 digs mark. Wotitzky, who now has 1,002 digs, became just the seventh player since the Falcons joined the NCAA to reach 1,000 digs. Sophomore Manyi Ati (Lawrenceville, Ga./Grayson) and freshman Michelle Walker (Houston, Texas/Elkins) led the Falcons with nine kills each.
Ati had nine kills on 17 attacks with just one error good for a .471 hitting percentage. She added six digs, a solo block and two service aces as well. Walker had a .438 hitting percentage with three service aces, four digs and a block.
Sophomore Michelle Carle (Sugar Land, Texas/Clements) had seven kills, a pair of digs and six blocks while freshman Jewell Sherrer (Dayton, Ohio/Walter E. Stebbins) added six kills on just seven attacks good for a .857 hitting percentage. She also chipped in a team leading seven blocks including a pair of solo stops.
Senior setter Anna Garrison (LaVergne, Tenn./LaVergne) had 34 assists and eight digs.
The Falcons hit .393 as a team while holding Stillman to a dismal -.054.
UM dominated the entire match including beginning the third game with a 12-0 run which featured 12-straight serves from Ati.
The Falcons will be back in action Friday, Oct. 28 at 6 p.m. as they travel to unbeaten Armstrong Atlantic State University.
