AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Peach Belt Conference hosted its fourth annual Women in Athletics Seminar on Thursday at Augusta State University to provide female student-athletes who may want to pursue a career in collegiate athletics the opportunity to interact with a wide range of professional women in sports. Over 100 female student-athletes from 16 schools and three conferences gathered for the event.

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Senior setter Anna Garrison (LaVergne, Tenn./LaVergne) of the University of Montevallo volleyball team was named to the Capital One Academic All-America® Division II Volleyball First Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Garrison becomes the first female student-athlete from the University of Montevallo to be named a First Team Academic All-American and just the second student-athlete in school history to receive the honor. Garrison joins UM Hall of Fame member and former baseball player Tony Cappola (1997-00) as the only First Team CoSIDA Academic All-Americans in school history.

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Three University of Montevallo senior athletes were named recipients of the UM Senior Elite Awards. Senior Elite is a prestigious honor, generally bestowed upon a graduating senior with the highest GPA in his or her particular field of study. They are typically a department’s most-outstanding student. Men’s golfer’s Gonzalo Gambertoglio (Cordoba, Argentina/Instituto General San Martin) and Mariano Lepori (Posadas, Argentina) and women’s volleyball setter Anna Garrison (LaVergne, Tenn./LaVergne) were among the 39 award winners.

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The University of Montevallo women’s volleyball team was awarded one spot on the Peach Belt Conference All-Academic Team and two Honorable Mentions. Senior Anna Garrison (LaVergne, Tenn./LaVergne) was named to the PBC All-Academic Team while sophomore Michelle Carle (Sugar Land, Texas/Clements) and senior Jessica Guidry (Fort Walton Beach, Fla./Pensacola State College) were given an Honorable Mentions.

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Sophomore Manyi Ati (Lawrenceville, Ga./Grayson) of the University of Montevallo volleyball team was named Daktronics All-Southeast Region Second Team as voted on by the region Sports Information Directors. This is the first Daktronics All-Region Award for Ati despite being named All-region last season by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.
