Ginny Davis will return for her second season with the University of Montevallo women's cross-country program with high expectations after an outstanding freshman year.
2008...In her first season as a Lady Falcon Davis was the first to cross the finish line for Montevallo in all five races...in her first collegiate race at the Delta State Invitational (9/6) Davis finished in 3rd place with a school record breaking time of 19:46.94. This performance helped the team achieve its first ever win in school history....In the only 6k race of the season and Davis's second, she finished 4th (25:33.20) at the Augusta State Jaguar Invitational... The following week at the Tennessee Tech Invitational the Lady Falcons competed against NCAA Division 1 teams and beat out Tennessee State for 5th place. Davis finished 15th in the 5k race with a time of 20:15....On October 18th at the Jacksonville State Foothills Invitational Davis went on to break her previous 5k record set at the Delta State Invitational by 23 seconds. Davis finished 12th with a new school record of 19:23.75...In the last 5k of the season at the Gulf South Conference Championships Davis tied the school record for best place finish (25th) with a time of 20:26.64.
High School... Competed for coach Robin Gaines at Bob Jones High School...recipient of most improved girl's distance runner award in track...posted a season-best time of 11:55 in track (two miles) this past spring, along with a time of 20:20 (5K) in cross-country...qualifier for the state meet.
Personal... Placed ninth overall in her class
(out of 638)...named to National Honor Society...has a brother,
Mitch and a sister, Brooker...a biology major at UM, she is the
daughter of Stephan and Bonnie Davis.
