Sixty-Five Montevallo Student-Athletes Named to 2009-10 Peach Belt Conference Presidential Honor Roll
MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo athletic department had 65 student-athletes named to the 2009-10 Peach Belt Conference Presidential Honor Roll. Men’s soccer led all Montevallo teams with 13 members being named to the list. The Presidential Honor Roll recognizes all student-athletes at the 13 PBC member institutions who had a GPA of 3.0 or higher for the academic year.

Annual UM Athletic Awards Announced
MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Eight of the top student-athletes at the University of Montevallo were honored with the announcement of the athletic department’s annual awards for 2009-10. The announcement came at the annual athletic awards banquet held on the campus of the University of Montevallo last evening (April 28).

Falcons Honored by the USTFCCCA
NEW ORLEANS, La. - The University of Montevallo women’s cross country team under the direction of head coach Michael Marquardt was named to the USTFCCCA NCAA Division II Women’s Cross Country All-Academic Teams list for the 2009 season. Sophomore Ginny Davis (Madison, Ala./Bob Jones) was named a USTFCCCA 2009 Division II Cross Country All-Academic Honoree.

Two Falcons Named to PBC All-Academic Teams
AUGUSTA, Ga. – The University of Montevallo women’s cross country team was awarded two runners on the Peach Belt Conference All-Academic Teams. Sophomore Ginny Davis (Madison, Ala./Bob Jones) was named First Team All-Academic, while junior January Waters (Grayson, Ga./Grayson) was named second team.

Falcons Finish Sixth in Southeast Region Race
WINGATE, N.C. – The University of Montevallo women’s cross country team raced to its best region finish in school history as the Falcons finished sixth in the 23-team field. The Falcons were led by sophomore Ginny Davis (Madison, Ala./Bob Jones) who ran her best race of the season as she finished 16th overall.

Falcons Jump Up Three Spots in Most Recent Region Rankings
NEW ORLEANS, La.- The University of Montevallo women’s cross country team jumped up to sixth in the most recent U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Southeast Region Poll. The Falcons were ranked ninth for the past four weeks but after a strong showing at the Peach Belt Conference Championship in which three Falcons were named All-Conference and the team finished third the Falcons jumped up to sixth in the poll.

Falcons Finish Third at PBC Championship, Three Named All-Conference
LUMBERTON, N.C.- The University of Montevallo women’s cross country team raced to its best conference meet finish in school history as the Falcons finished third among the 11 team field at the Peach Belt Conference Cross Country Championship. Three Falcons were named to the All-Conference squads. Freshman Haley Evans (Fairhope, Ala./Fairhope) was named First Team All-Conference while sophomore Ginny Davis (Madison, Ala./Bob Jones) and freshman Kaley Glover (Opelika, Ala./Beauregard) were named Second Team All-Conference.

Cross Country Set to be First Montevallo Team to Compete for a Peach Belt Conference Title
MONTEVALLO, Ala.- The University of Montevallo women’s cross country team is headed to Lumberton, N.C. to compete in its first Peach Belt Conference Championship. The championship is the first of the PBC-GEICO Championship Series and brings together the largest field for a cross country championship the PBC has had since 2003. The Falcons come in ranked ninth in the Southeast Region by the USTFCCCA and third in the Peach Belt behind Columbus State and Augusta State.

Falcons Fly to Victory at the Tiger Twilight Invitational
SEWANEE, Tenn.- The University of Montevallo women’s cross country team earned its first race victory of the season at the Tiger Twilight Invitational hosted by Sewanee The University of the South. The Falcons beat out two other teams to capture the victory as they won over the host school as well as Birmingham Southern College. Freshmen Haley Evans (Fairhope, Ala./Fairhope) and Kaley Glover (Opelika, Ala./Beauregard) finished first and second to lead the Falcons to victory.

Evans Named PBC Runner of the Week
AUGUSTA, Ga.- Freshman Haley Evans (Fairhope, Ala./Fairhope) of the University of Montevallo women's cross country team was named Peach Belt Conference Runner of the Week. This is the first PBC Runner of the Week honor for Evans and second for the cross country team. Evans joins fellow freshman harrier Kaley Glover (Opelika, Ala./Beauregard) as the lone teammates to be named PBC Runners of the Week this season.

Two Falcons Break School Record at Gulf Coast Stampede
PENSACOLA, Fla.- The University of Montevallo women’s cross country record book has been rewritten many times this season but for the first time all year two Falcons ran better than the top 5k time in school history. Freshman Haley Evans (Fairhope, Ala./Fairhope) and freshman Kaley Glover (Opelika, Ala./Beauregard) bested the old school and freshman record of 19:23.75 set last season by Ginny Davis (Madison, Ala./Bob Jones). Evans ran a stellar 19:19.00 while Glover clocked in at 19:23.00 just squeaking under the old mark.

Falcons Earn First Region Ranking in School History
NEW ORLEANS, La.- The University of Montevallo women’s cross country team picked up its first region ranking in school history. The Falcons are ranked ninth in the most recent U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Southeast Region rankings.

Falcons Continue Hot Start with Fourth Place Finish
MACON, Ga.- The University of Montevallo women’s cross country team continued it hot start to the 2009 season. The Falcons faced off against teams from the Peach Belt Conference for the first time at the Mercer Run Fit Sports Invitational. The Falcons finished fourth of 20 teams falling to Division I Kennesaw State University, Florida Southern College and the University of West Georgia. The Falcons defeated all four PBC schools in the race.

Glover Named PBC Runner of the Week
AUGUSTA, Ga. – Freshman Kaley Glover (Opelika, Ala./Beauregard) of the University of Montevallo women's cross country team was named Peach Belt Conference Runner of the Week. This is the first PBC Runner of the Week honor for both Glover and the cross country team.

Falcons Finish Fourth at Fleet Feet/Earl Jacoby Invitational
NEW MARKET, Ala.- The University of Montevallo women’s cross country team once again ran in a field full of Division I teams and came out with a strong showing. The Falcons were the top Division II finisher beating out No. 20 University of Alabama-Huntsville along with the University of West Florida, Valdosta State University, the University of North Alabama, Lincoln Memorial and Miles College.

Falcons Post Three School Record Times in First Race of the Season
MEMPHIS, Tenn.- The University of Montevallo women’s cross country team ran in a unique race late last night. With most cross country races starting in the early morning hours the Memphis Twilight race is different with a start time of 8:45 p.m. The Falcons seemed to adapt well to the new start time as they posted three top ten times in the Montevallo record book.

Falcons Picked to Finish Eighth in PBC Preseason Poll
AUGUSTA, Ga. – The University of Montevallo women’s cross country team was selected to finish eighth by Peach Belt Conference coaches today (Aug. 18). The Falcons received a vote for second, two for fourth, one for fifth, one for sixth, one for eighth and four for ninth. The Lady Cougars of Columbus State University were picked to finish first for the third-straight year.
