Falcons Picked to Finish Eighth in PBC Preseason Poll

AUGUSTA, Ga. - The University of Montevallo women's cross country team was selected to finish eighth by Peach Belt Conference coaches today (Aug. 18). The Falcons received a vote for second, two for fourth, one for fifth, one for sixth, one for eighth and four for ninth. The Lady Cougars of Columbus State University were picked to finish first for the third-straight year.

The top-five teams were CSU, Augusta State, GCSU, North Georgia and Clayton State.

The Falcons return four of their top five runners from last season's squad who finished seventh in the Gulf South Conference and were 2-1 against PBC teams. This group of returners includes former GSC Runner of the Week Ginny Davis (Madison, Ala./Bob Jones) who holds four of the top-eight times in school history in the 5k. She is joined by January Waters (Grayson, Ga./Grayson) who holds two of the top-four times in school history in the 5k as well.

The Falcons open up their regular season Sept. 5 at the Memphis Twilight Race. The meet starts at 8:40 p.m.
