NEW MARKET, Ala.- The University of Montevallo women's cross country team once again ran in a field full of Division I teams and came out with a strong showing. The Falcons were the top Division II finisher beating out No. 20 University of Alabama-Huntsville along with the University of West Florida, Valdosta State University, the University of North Alabama, Lincoln Memorial and Miles College.
Freshman Kaley Glover (Opelika, Ala./Beauregard) once again led the way finishing ninth overall with a time of 19:54 and the top time among Division II runners. She once again cracked the top five times all-time at Montevallo with the performance. Sophomore Ginny Davis (Madison, Ala./Bob Jones) continued her strong season with a 14th overall finish and second among Division II runners with a time of 20:10 which is also a top-10 time at Montevallo.
Freshman Haley Evans (Fairhope, Ala./Fairhope) finished in 21st with a time of 20:27. Montevallo's fourth finisher was junior January Waters (Grayson, Ga./Grayson) who came across the line 39th with a time of 21:46. The Falcons last point scorer was sophomore Whitney Adkins (Conyers, Ga./Heritage) who placed 47th with a time of 22:19.
This is the second week-in-a-row that numerous top times have been placed in the Montevallo record books by the Falcon squad.
The Falcons will return to action Saturday, Sept. 26 at 9 a.m. as they travel to the Mercer Invitational for their first chance to take on some Peach Belt Conference competition.
