Falcons Earn First Region Ranking in School History

NEW ORLEANS, La.- The University of Montevallo women's cross country team picked up its first region ranking in school history. The Falcons are ranked ninth in the most recent U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Southeast Region rankings.
The Falcons are ranked just ahead of conference foe Georgia College and State University and behind fellow PBC team's Columbus State University and Augusta State University. CSU is ranked third despite losing to the Falcons at their most recent race.
UM has been one of the top three Division II teams in all three races it has run this season. At the Memphis Twilight Race the Falcons finished 12th overall but were the third best Division II team in the race. At the University of Alabama in Huntsville Invite the Falcons were the top Division II finishers in the race and at the most recent Mercer Invitational the Falcons finished third among Division II teams.
UM is 4-0 against Peach Belt Conference competition this season.
The Falcons will next be in competition Saturday, Oct. 3 at 7:30 a.m. as they compete in the Gulf Coast Stampede in Pensacola, Fla.
