Two Falcons Break School Record at Gulf Coast Stampede

PENSACOLA, Fla.- The University of Montevallo women's cross country record book has been rewritten many times this season but for the first time all year two Falcons ran better than the top 5k time in school history. Freshman Haley Evans (Fairhope, Ala./Fairhope) and freshman Kaley Glover (Opelika, Ala./Beauregard) bested the old school and freshman record of 19:23.75 set last season by Ginny Davis (Madison, Ala./Bob Jones). Evans ran a stellar 19:19.00 while Glover clocked in at 19:23.00 just squeaking under the old mark.

The Falcons as a team finished seventh at the meet but were the second place team among Division II teams. The only D-II team to beat the Falcons was host the University of West Florida.

Evans crossed the line in 15th place while Glover came across just three spots later in 18th. Former record holder Davis crossed the line in 29th with a time of 19:52.00 good for seventh all-time in school history.

The other Montevallo scorers were junior January Waters (Grayson, Ga./Grayson) in 42nd and sophomore Georgia Izard (Birmingham, Ala./John Carroll Catholic) in 49th.

The Falcons will get back to racing on Friday, Oct. 16 at 4:00 p.m. at the University of the South Invite. This race will be the final tune-up prior to the Peach Belt Conference Championship.
