Matsunaga Named Academic All-District

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Sophomore In-Mi Matsunaga (Enterprise, Ala./Enterprise) of the University of Montevallo women’s cross country team was named Academic All-District 3 by the College Sports Information Directors of America. District 3 includes all teams in the Southeast Region including teams from the Peach Belt Conference, South Atlantic Conference and Conference Carolinas.

Matsunaga has a 4.00 GPA in accounting. She helped lead the Falcons to their first Peach Belt Conference Championship as well as the programs first trip to the NCAA Championships. She holds the record for the second fastest 5K time in school history with a 19:16.5 which she ran at the Royal Cross Country Challenge this past season. She also holds two of the top-10 fastest 6K times in school history including her 23:42.9 which she ran at the NCAA Regional Championship this past season which helped the Falcons advanced to the NCAA Championships in Spokane, Washington. She was named First Team All-PBC this year after a seventh-place finish at the PBC Championships. She received the USTFCCCA All-Academic Award this past season and was named to the PBC All-Academic Team.
